Traveling soon? Help reduce wheelchair damage

Project Overview

Mobility devices (e.g. wheelchairs, mobility scooters) are often damaged during air travel. These devices are required to be stowed in the aircraft’s cargo compartment along with other checked items by baggage handlers. There are many potential reasons mobility devices are damaged during air travel as air travel is a fast-moving complex system with many parts that don’t always work together they way they are supposed to.

The objective of this project is to systematically investigate each of the potential causes of damage to mobility devices and to create a set of guidelines to reduce the risk of damage.
