About

Based on the success of the 2025 Accessible Air Travel Forum, we’re planning a follow-up conference in 2027!

The Accessible Air Travel Forum was held on September 11th 2025, it brought together researchers, industry leaders, and individuals with lived experience to address a range of challenges faced by travellers with disabilities. A key focus of the 2025 Accessible Air Travel Forum was the damage of mobility devices – such as wheelchairs and mobility scooters – during air travel. More broadly, the Forum sought to explore systemic barriers within the air travel ecosystem and develop actionable strategies to make air travel safer, more inclusive, and accessible for all.

Our team at the Engineering Health Lab (KITE-UHN) is leading a collaborative effort to better understand and address the barriers faced by travellers with disabilities. Through this Forum, we were able to foster collaboration, raise awareness, share knowledge and co-create innovative solutions.

This full-day event, that took place on September 11th 2025, included keynote sessions, roundtables, case studies, and panel discussions designed to identify barriers, spark innovation, and lay the groundwork for a more accessible future in air travel.
