Slip Detection, Better Winter Footwear

Davood Dadkhah is a Ph.D. candidate at the Institute of Biomedical Engineering, University of Toronto, where he is part of the Engineering Health Team at KITE. With a rich background in electrical engineering, Davood has transitioned from human pose estimation for human-robot interaction to focusing on wearable technologies for healthcare. His current thesis work involves the development of wearable footwear slip detection systems, particularly for icy surfaces, under the guidance of Prof. Tilak Dutta and Prof. Kei Masani. Davood’s research is notable for its interdisciplinary approach, incorporating elements from electrical engineering, biomechanics, and data science, to address real-world challenges in rehabilitation and injury prevention.
